This competition, completed while I was with Horsey & Thorpe, Architects, was for a new Georgetown University Boathouse on the banks of the Potomac River at the base of the Key Bridge. Drawing from notable boathouses along the Schuykill River in Philadelphia and Adirondack Camp structures, we proposed a rambling building that seemed to grow from the rocky depths of the river, and could be the beginning of a landmark collection of boathouses.
