A 1920's mixed-use building on Connecticut Avenue was purchased by a client of Cunningham + Quill Architects, who were enlisted to reconfigure the apartment units and provide a face-lift to the existing facades, while meeting the requirements of the Historic Preservation Review Board. We designed a traditional storefront to replace the 1980's first floor storefront, pulled out the walls at the balcony flush with the adjacent walls to capture more natural light, and replaced all the windows and doors with traditional lite patterns in keeping with the historic building's character.
